Fairy Tail (フェアリーテイル, Fearī Teiru?, romanized as FAIRY TAIL in Japan) is a Japanese manga sequence by Hiro Mashima. It has been serialized in Every week Shōnen Magazine since Aug TWENTY THREE, 2006, and it has been published by Kodansha in 29 tankōbon volumes as of October 2011[update]. An ongoing anime made by A-1 Pictures and Satelight was launched in Japan on Oct 12, '09, and has created 2 original video animations. The sequence follows the adventures of Lucy Heartfilia, a young wizard who joins the titular wizards' guild and groups up with fellow guild member Natsu Dragneel as he searches for the dragon Igneel.
The sequence was formerly certified for an English language launch in North America by Del Rey Manga, which started releasing the individual volumes on March TWENTY FIVE, '08 and finished it's licensing with the Twelfth volume release on Sept TWENTY EIGHT, 2010. The sequence was taken over by Kodansha USA Publishing, who ongoing it's North American launch. The anime adaptation was originally certified by Animax Asia, which started airing the sequence with a Hong Kong-based English dub on Sept THIRTY, 2010, yet dropped the sequence after airing it's 48th episode on Dec 6 the same year. It has since been certified by Funimation Entertainment for distribution in North America.
