HARLEY QUINN ROCKS GOTHAM CITY IN STYLE, Anime Court Jester Rockstar Bustle Skirt With Antique Mourning Lace And Tassels by SHEELA GOH
Once upon a time, there lived an Arkham Asylum psychiatrist called Dr Harleen Quinzel whose borderline psychotic alter ego was none other than the quirky, bubbly and utterly off kilter Harley Quinn.
As suggested by her name (a play on the word "harlequin"), Harley is none other than the infamous Joker's accomplice and on-again, off-again girlfriend.
And, regardless of whether one views her as eccentric, dangerous, cute or simply insane, Harley is a true original. The epitome of one-of-a-kind and this skirt was designed as a visual tribute to her wacky, dysfunctional personality.
Your basic "working girl" Vintage Black Lace Skirt has been utterly lavished up here into a funky, romantic punk princess bustle-esque piece in the style of the clown character in commedia dell'arte.
I've taken my mad love (read: obsession) for all things antique and old, and used a fabulously decrepit Antique Black Collar (found at an estate sale) to create the upper tier of the bustle at back. This is followed by a very girly, very old frou frou White Collar which adds yet more fluff and pouf. The White and Red bits (both Silk, are remnants salvaged from vintage lingerie).
What would a Harley Quinn ensemble be without a hint of tongue-in-cheek chic, I ask you? Reinforcing this is the old Black Tassel Trim fringing the lower back hemline.
The sides have been adorned with asymmetrical drops of Antique Mourning Lace, just divine. And a pair of Vintage Reproduction Gothic Appliqués dots the front, just for fun.
